The Exorcist is known as one of the scariest movies of all time, if not the scariest. I didn't think it was really that scary of a movie, I'm sure 30 years ago it might have been even scarier. I just thought the exorcist was a great movie.
The movie tells the story of what seems to be a normal young girl. Then she starts acting weird, the weird things get worse and the doctors have no idea what the problem is. The doctors suggest an exorcist to get the demon out. But will the exocism work?
Like I said before I thought The Exorcist was just great movie. The movie is supposidly based on a true story, which makes it even cooler. This is one movie everyone should check out.
I give The Exorcist 3.5 stars out of 4.

True story-yes-but it was a boy not a girl..the whole story can be found on the net.... I actually laughed during the movie a lot..but that's just me. My mom said she say it when it came out and during the begining when the little girl pees on the carpet, she said people got up and left...OHHHHHHH shes PEEING....IM SO SCARED! In all the movie was ok!

I don't think the movie is very scary, but it is quite entertaining. The part where Reagan comes down the stairs in a reverse crawl still makes me do a double take. Some of the things she says when she's possessed are really quite vulgar and crack me up!

I have a warped sense of humor, so I must admit I laughed several times during this movie as well. I can't help but remember the movie "Repossessed" which was kind of a spoof on the movie years later... Plus, it's just funny to me for some reason. For it's time, it most likely was scary film and is probably scary to some now, but I think it's pretty hilarious myself. I think what I find so funny about what Reagan/The Devil says is how totally shocking it is coming from a child's mouth. She says something about the two priests getting it on and then something about where to stick the crucifix! Cracks me up!

Sorry York... I deleted the post you were referring to because I discovered I actually had an old account on here under this name... but what I said as shadowboxer still applies and I agree, that is why it cracks me up too. Having stuff like that come out of her mouth... It's hilarious.

Even this pic cracks me up because I can hear those things coming out of her mouth ... er, Mercedes McCambridge's mouth.

Upon watching this movie in my house, the lights went off and on and i felt very uncomfortable so I shut it off. It is scary to me because it can actually happen. Do not mess with witch craft.

I remember reading that there were a bunch of weird occurrences on the set during filming of this movie. But I believe you could chalk those up to coincidence. Overall though, I've always enjoyed this movie. Father Karras is a likable enough guy and Regan is creepy as a possessed little girl. I remember to go see the re release Director's Cut in theaters and a guy behind me watched the movie with his head in his shirt while yelling "oh sh-t!" I think this is a decent enough horror movie though. The best aspect of it, is that at no point in the movie do you get to feel comfortable with the movie. You either are creeped out, or you find it funny because of that. I, like some of you, laugh at the vulgar outbursts and find the movie amusing. I'd say that this movie will continue to be a solid horror classic though for years upon years to come.
Kudos, to the one who Mentioned The Exorcist 3. I always enjoyed this movie and find it more unsettling than the original. George C. Scott does an excellent job acting in this movie and it is a good, solid movie overall. Highly recommend it!

I think you're right about the strange things happening on the set and to some of the cast members. Thanks for the tip about Exorcist 3, I'll check it out.
