This place is a bridge out in the country just outside of montpelier. Me and my friends go here all the time. Sometimes we dont get anything but half the time we get stuff. We havent gotten anything on pictures out there yet but we HAVE had a girl follow us home and pound on the window outside all night. She was also squeezing the back of our necks the whole way home. Other times we have had something that sounds like someone hitting the guard rail with something metal as we were walking by. Also we have been sitting in a circle on the bridge and it felt like a wrecking ball slammed into the bottom of the bridge right where we were sitting. It was very loud and it felt like it vibrated the bridge. We've also seen what appears to be girls walking towards us off in the distance and seen some orbs here and there. But remember we have been going to this place continuously for over a year. If you go once and dont get anything dont get discouraged. I really do believe there is alot to be found here. So I thought I should share it.

Would you know if this is the same crybaby bridge listed under Redkey on the shadowland list? Redkey has a crybaby bridge and a shoe tree. I dismissed both of these figuring they were knock-offs of other ghost stories. By the way...the crybaby bridge near pendleton actually did what it said it would. If you're ever in the area, check it out!

What's up with these shoe trees popping up in Indiana?

Hey Storm. Have you thought about Bobtown? It is probably around 50 miles from you and everything I have read about it says it is creepy. Besides the story on the forums I have also read about an Edna Collins-like happening where a boy will be sitting in your back seat when you go through The Coffins and he will disappear when you slam on the brakes, which is the correct course of action to take when one finds a dead person sitting in their back seat. I can give you the low down and a map if you need it.

I've never even heard of Bobtown. If you wouldn't mind providing with me with directions I'd definitely go check it out. As creepy as the stuff at Dan's Run has been as of late, it's getting a little dull going out there, so a new place to investigate would be awesome.

The legend of the Coffins goes back to the late 1800’s. This land has had many names. The Bottoms, The Flats and then the Coffins. A lot of people were poorly buried here. Insane asylums had cruel and dark reputations back then. The Coffins were a cheap, no accountable way to dispose of a problem. It wasn’t exclusive to the asylums. The poor as well as the cheap would bring their dead or nearly dead here and throw them in a pine box, most of the time, erect a shallow marker, sometimes, throw a little dirt on them, maybe, and be done with it. In past years, when the spring floods would come, it is said that people would see cheap, decaying pine coffins floating down White Creek. Claims of apparitions and orbs have been reported. One often repeated vision is of a woman with her hand reaching out, crying for help. A totally eerie recount tells of a little boy that appears in the back seat of your car and then vanishes when you slam on the brakes. Another story associated with this area is one involving a police officer who was murdered and stuffed into a hollow tree and over the years, the tree grew around him. At night you can see his eyes peering from the tree.

Interesting stuff, I'll definitely make the trip up there sometime soon. It's strange that I've never even heard of the place until now. Are there still coffins on display, is it some kind state or private historical preserve?

Just got the directions from Google Maps right to the road where the coffins are located. Only about an hour drive, not too bad. lol maybe I'll stop for a bite to eat in that haunted Papa John's in Seymour while I'm there.

The Coffins are on a public county road. The only way I was able to pin point exactly where it is (because the account just said Bobtown) was searching and searching until I found the journal of a guy that rides a bike through there once in a while. The people in town are trying to turn it into a Halloween hot spot and go commercial with it but it is in no way on his or anyone elses property. It's just a little outside of my range or I would have checked it out already.

Good, the fact that I wouldn't be trespassing will be a load off my mind. I might go check it out Saturday if I have the gas money.

okay so i went again tonight to crybaby bridge and wrote down the directions as we went.
go 69 north and get off at the marion/montpelier exit turn right onto state road 18 going towards montpelier. go through montpelier right on the other side of town before you leave montpelier turn right onto river road you go straight on this road for quite a while the road will come to a split and you take the road to the left you will come to a stop sign and continue straight. turn left onto 500 N go straight until you come to the end of the road where it "T's" and there is a stop sign turn left again at the stop sign the bridge will be about a mile straight you cant miss it
There you go guys I hope you venture out there and experience this place!

Excellent directions! Very good ;D. I am near this area and will be checking it out A.S.A.P. Now, you wouldn't happen to know the directions to Shoe Tree, would you? It is listed under Redkey and is supposedly ½ mile from the bridge.

On second thought, I am confused. I tried following your directions and got lost. Thank goodness I was in my own bedroom. I know these roads from here all the way south to Kentucky are confusing. They follow no straight lines and are old trails and some of them are labeled with local names. Could you please look at my map and tell me where the bridge is? There are two 500N's and two River Roads. By my estimation, it is the one just north of Pennville, but I want to be sure.
