Definitely, if I could afford it I would've gone already. I'd say it's worth the trip just to see one of Indiana's most infamous haunted locations, even if nothing paranormal occurs.

back round about 1990-91 I was a member of Boy Scout troop 501 located here in Peru. A fellow troop member Tique was vying for his Eagle scout badge and needed a "community service" project. Well, near O.P. there was a place recently bought by a company called Trails Unlimited and we were to clear some of the trail and help to put a large "farm" type swinging gate to stop people from driving the train. Nothing particularlly strange happened during the project, in fact; the trainl itsself had nothing to do w/ my posting. There was however a small, very simple abandoned white house at the mouth of the trail a hundred yards or so off the road. We being kids(prob 7th- 8th grade) decided to further investigate the house against the wishes of our adult company. But, we did me and 4-5 other guys went through and saw the usual grafettied walls w/ 666 and the likes painted everywhere, of course thinking of the teenagers and such, payed no mind to these things....no the story was what we found in the basement. I have never to this day felt a feeling as I did in that basement. we had to use an old pallet b/c the stairs were gone. we went down and found a large pan on the floor and childrens clothes and some partially burnt photographs.(looking to be from early 90's to late 80's) Under a large piece of OSB we lifted was a strange pentagram-type drawing of the likes i've never seen. there were chicken feet hanging from a nylon rope and some type of hair, it had to either be human, or the mane of an animal such as a horses mane, b/c not alot of animals around these parts have such hair. we were soon discoved by the grown-ups and forced to leave the house. Even as kids we knew things just weren't right in that old house. You could see it on the faces of the adults that found us in that basemen. One of the troop leaders even made a call to the sherriffs dept. not sure for what, and not letting us hear the conersation. But not long after, the abandoned house was burnt to the ground. I'm not a "ghost chaser" or "demonoligist" or anythiong like that but I do believe in Day and night and Good and evil, and i PROMISE YOU, WHATEVER WAS GOING ON IN THAT HOUS WAS NEITHER THE DOINGS OF TEENAGED PRANKS, OR ANYTHING TO SCOFF AT. Something about that place didn't want me there, and I've only returned once a few years ago to see the plac, not staying long or walking too far.

I'll probably head out there as soon as my whole job situation is all straightened, that's the only reason I haven't gone anywhere in a couple of weeks

Indeed, work & school are the reasons I haven't really been able to go out to any locations lately. I would love to go to OP one day.

honestly we didn't find much of anything. the only strange occurence we had when we went was my brother in law kept hearing a dog like it was right next to him. it wasnt really even a scary place.

I've heard something about certain areas being more active than others, and even then it's hit or miss, but I guess paranormal activity typically doesn't have a set time schedule.

that's very true. i'm not really anxious to go back there simply b/c its such a long drive for me and we got nothing the first time we went. we may go back eventually, but it will be a long time before that happens lol. we did however debunk the "growling noises" you hear out there.

If I heard a growling sound I would more than likely just assume it's animals. What do you think it is?

well, keeping in mind that ur out in the middle of the woods surrounded by trees, and also keeping in mind that cars do drive out there (its a state park) if u pay cllose attention and try not to matrix its just the sound of the cars on the gravel roads distorted thru the trees almost like a filter. not very scary once you understand it lol thats the only "growling" sound we heard
