This cemetery was awesome. If you take pictures supposedly objects will appear, wierd distortions, i have seen pictures from friends that took them and seen cool things. I took a roll of film and had one picture that if you stretch your imagination a little it looks like a wizard or a screaming face in the tree. The cemetery is very old, grave stones knocked over. It is in the middle of this odd forest preserve and supposedly there are satanic people who go there at night...and believe me we saw some wierd stuff goin on there as the sun was goin down...There is this legend that if you walk through this preserve you can find this gleaming white house and a swamp in front of it and supposedly it is like a mirage...we never saw it but many people claim to see it. There is a website that says this is one of the top haunted places in America. Although i didnt see much, we heard a lot. It could have easily been your mind wandering, but we heard chopping noises, and one time it sounded like a person moaning in pain. The whole place is scary...if anyone has been there i would love to hear stories...there are many cool pictures out there too...search for them online!!!

Ya I'm know a little bit about this cemetery although I have never been there. I heard that it's really small but still very haunted. I guess the best time is to go at night, but since it's in a forest preserve and since forest preserve are only open from sunrise to sunset the cops are pretty bad around there during the night.

i've been to bachelor's grove cemetery as well, and although my friends and i didn't see this famous white house either, we did get a lot of good pics of spirits and orbs. my personal favorite was a pic that i took where i thought my friend had some snot hanging out of his nose, but it was an ectoplasmic strand or whatever. we heard some weird noises to. a place that i do recommend, eventhough internet sources say it's not haunted, is south grove cemetery (gypsies cemetery). i live 3 miles away from it, i go there all the time and take pics. i have a pic of an old woman sitting on a grave stone looking right at me. i think i'm one of the first amateur people to capture movement with a digital camera to. while it wasn't a ghost, it was definitely an orb. what i did was start recording on a blank area, when the video was over a cold spot hit me. i played the video and there was an orb that came straight at me in the video, and pretty much went right through me.

we used to live outside of chicago before we moved to porter county, and bachelors grove was a place we visited evey october before halloween. we went about 3 years in a row and each time we went it was always different but always scarey. there is nothing imaginary about the place...whatever you feel is really happening. like for instance, midlothian is surrounded by park preseves, but once you lay one foot on the path towards bachelors grove... you immediately are overwhelmed by a feeling of being watched. the surrounding preseves are so clean and happy and full of light and sound, but on this path towards the cemetary, its like you enter another world. there is no sound but the trees and shrubs move and shake but there is not one bird or squirrel in that entire area. the actual graveyard is so decrepid from vandals and abandon, that it feels as gloomy as it looks. on our last visit there, on 2002, i sat down on a rock because i was pretty much done with my visit, yet i was still close to eveyone. i felt someone behind me. i thought it was my husband and i said ..." are you guys done because i'm getting tired?' when nobody replied i turned aound and nobody was there. but it literally felt and sounded like someone walked up behind me and was standing next to me. i was already scared about being there, but this nearly gave me a heart attack! everyone else said that they felt like they were being "watched" too. this place is very scarey and it is also patrolled by cops and forest rangers...but i think they are too scared to go up there too. if you go, bring at least 3-4 people with you because its intense.

Bachelor's Grove is west of Midlothian. Take Cicero Avenue to the Midlothian Turnpike and go west to the Rubio Woods (at 143rd Street and Justamere Road) www.prairieghosts.com/bachgrov.html

I'll definitely be checking out Bachelor's Grove on my next trip to Chicago, but unfortunately I have no idea when that will be. I have heard that you can get into a lot of trouble with police for going up there though. I may have posted this link already somewhere else, but in case I haven't... www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEKwNOnAHI8

It's Small but definitely creepy... you should seriously think of going in large groups. Sadly, the cops do patrol but, to quote a guy we met when there... "It's the only thing bringing visitors to the hillbilly town." The forest itself has an eerie aura amongst the trees and the broken gate that marks the entrance only adds to the overall effect of an unwelcome feeling but its cool nevertheless. you have to park in the forest preserve across the turnpike and avoid the fish police and rent-a-cops but the cemetery is about a 1/4 mile down a dirt/ gravel path that is located more towards ridgeland ave. At dusk is when we went and at night it can only get worse.
