I'm sorry but no one in The Force knows where the Belle Gunness farm is at. You might be able to find out if you looked it up on google.
We have directions to the circus train crash, but we have never been there. Here are the directions we were given by a friend of The Force.
Take Cline Avenue east to 15th street, go north till you dead end just after 8th street. Park there, walk to the tracks look to your right, that's the signal and switch where they hit. Ivanhoe tower was at the crossing. Ivanhoe wasn't at station, it was an interlocking tower of the EJ&E. Ivenhoe is the tower at the crossing of the EJ&E line running due north from Griffith and the IHB "Miller Branch" parallel to ex Conrail (ex MC) which is located south of the Toll Road (I90), north of the Borman (I80/94) and east of Cline Avenue (SR 912).
It is also the next RR crossing north of VanLoon where the EJE and NS cross directly under I80/94 a short distance east of the SR912 interchange.
According to "A History of Railroad Accidents, Safety Precautions and Operating Practices" by Robert R. Shaw (C)1978. The accident happened on the clear morning of June 22, 1918. It was on the Michigan Central where a troop train ignored automatic block signals and the Circus Train (CT) flagman and ran into the rear of the CT. The (Second section of the CT had stopped a few feet short of the EJE diamond to repair a hot box. There are more details about the crash in the paragraph starting on page 244 of the book.
Supposidly the neighborhood isn't that good, so after you park your car I wouldn't leave it unattended for too long or else it might be gone when you come back. Hope this helps.

the belle gunness house burned down...you can look up belle gunnes on the web and you should be able to find info on her. a good article about her is by Janet Langlois and is called "Belle Gunness, the Lady Bluebeard: Narrative Use of a Deviant Woman." I believe that her place used to be located off of McClung Road in LaPorte.

I am not sure, because I do remember reading of a house whose owners were by that name, and it bured down.. I guess a kid of a tennage years was inside, and burned alive.. could just be rumors and urban legends.. I will ask my friend who used to live out in Laporte...
