Hello
Does anybody have any information of the so called "four arches" of Carbon? Im back from a long haitus of internet service and this location is new to me. Now I know that often the sites within Clay county get mixed up often giving credit to the wrong town among the Diamond, Bridgeton, Carbon triangle. I've even seen Terre Haute listed as containing "Spook Light Hill" when it's not even in the same county. My point is: Is it possible the "Four Arches of Carbon" refer to what are commonly known as "Hell's Gates" near Diamond? I have personally seen and photographed two of them and possibly found two more using arial photography (Google Earth/TerraServer) So if anyone has been to both (Hell's Gates and Four Arches) Let me know its not referring to the same thing. Also I am great at finding things and research. If anybody needs help finding a location I can probably find it for you even if I haven't been there.

the arches are train arches to get them over the hills. im not sure if they are in carbon, but thats close enough. locals could get you directions. they are near the gates, but have nothing to do with them. there are severel stories about the arches ranging from kkk members to "goat boy" who accepts sacrafices for various things yadda ya....if you climb the hill and enter at one end you can climb up through the arches, including several "rooms"( most levels of the arches open on each side except the rooms which are long and tall and damp as all get out...dont enter if calusterphobic or afraid of bats) BE CAREFUL! TRAINS STILL GO OVERHEAD ON THE TRACKS! DO NOT GO UP TOP! STAY AWAY FROM THE EDGES INSIDE THE ARCHES BECAUSE THE VIBRATION FROM THE TRAINS COULD CAUSE YOU TO FALL, IT IS VERY HIGH UP!

In the vicinity there are two "Four Arches" that I know of, one off of Brouillette's Creek which has no stories attached to it, and one near Greencastle (9 miles from Carbon).
The one described above (with little "rooms") should almost certainly be the one near Greencastle at the convergence of S County Road 525 W and W County Road 275 S.

As I say above, the other one should have no significant meaning to Ghost Hunters, although there is said to be a ghostly jail nearby the *other* Four Arches (of greater importance to fishermen).

The other Four Arches is near St. Berenice, IN — not too far from this other stuff. One of the four arches has been overrun with earth, so you can really only see three of the arches.

If you can find the buried jailhouse there, I imagine it would be interesting.
