Does anyone have directions to the tracks at Tunnelton that they would like to share.
Your directions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Chance

The Tunnelton Train Tunnel -Don’t let this happen to you. The Tunnel Hill Tunnel saw its first train on October 6th, 1856. Equipped with a flat car carrying young women in fine white dresses the inaugural passage did not go off as planned. The train broke down in the middle and the ladies walked out of the tunnel covered with soot. There has been told, by many people, that there is the apparition of a man that wanders the tunnel holding a lantern in one hand and his head in the other. There are different theories as to why the tunnel is haunted. Rocks would occasionally fall onto the tracks and derailments were a concern. Men would have to walk the tracks to clear the rocks and for their safety there were chambers cut in the wall of the tunnel so that men could duck into them if a train ran through. One man did not make it to a chamber and was struck and killed. During WW1, guards would start at each end and make their way towards each other. In one case, a guard reached the middle and found nobody to meet. A search revealed nothing and what happened to the other soldier has never been explained. A man named Henry Dixon was murdered and the culprit put his body in the tunnel so that it would never be found. It is said that everybody knew who had killed Henry but since there was no evidence, there was no trial. Let you be warned that the tunnel is still operational. Even though the traffic is less frequent the speed of the trains are much faster. As evident by the extent of graffiti in the tunnel there are many people that go in. It is a wonder that there are not more deaths. One person with a group of friends who encountered the tunnel ghost, lantern in one hand, wielding the head above him with the other, exclaimed “That looks like Henry Dixon, but I don’t remember him being that tall”.

I've actually never heard of this one before, I think it should only be about maybe a two hour trip for me. Might have to check this one out.

Did you spot any good places to park in the area that aren't suspicious?

no theres not you have to park on the side of the road which is more of a gravel path and the houses are right on the road or on the hill side right up above you litterally. its quite odd

Looks like we'll have to do a drop off for this one. Which doesn't put my mind anymore at ease before I head into an old railroad tunnel.

k so ive been to tunnelton and its not that great..but the drive is crazy and the...welll...."meth houses" (what they look like) are worth the trip lol. but its kinda freaky and u have to climb a mountain to get to it..but u can park on the side of the road i doubt anything will happen to your car. but if your going to go to tunnelton why not go to Henderson near salem . that place freaks me out so bad its nuts.
