Not sure how the Lickford Man legend got started, since it's just now surfacing to us outside Corydon via a couple places online. Here's the story as I found it on StrangeUSA.com "LickFord Man, his real name is unknown, was a evil man who worshipped the devil and sacaficed his slaves on the bridge under a fool moon. He was above average in height and would grow his finger nails out to cut the throats of the slaves. If you go and stop at the bridge and get out you will see him come out from behind a tree and walk toward you. You will tell its him by what many call the RED LIGHTENING Bugs. (personal experience: he is very dangerous and can physically hurt you. I have been in a vehicle that was shoved half a circle towards the river with the car turned off, and after we drove off into town LONG handprints where all down the side of the car) You are also suppose to have handprints from the young slaves who are trying to push you off the bridge to save you from Lickford man. If NoN beleivers, or people who go insulting the Lickford man, it is believed he can follow that person until he goes back to the bridge and apologizes. The House, which is on the next road to the right after the bridge. One night Lickford man went crazy and killed his family and buried them beneath the porch. No exact haunting, but entering his house supposedly really makes him mad. (personal: Objects have been thrown, cars have been pushed, and figures have appeared in picture, and electronic equipment has failed) Once again...if NoN beleivers or insults go on in his house the consequences are suppose to be worse then the actual bridge. " I believe I know the bridge that story refers to, but I have no idea where the house is exactly. When I was searching for it online I came across another article that said the bridge was closed to traffic in the Fall of last year. stormblast i honestly have no idea what your talking about? the bridge near the house or the actual bridge on the house that really isnt a bridge...its just ahouse built on a creeek that runs into the jordan lake. why didnt this get redirected already to haunted places?

The cemetery is the old blue river church cemetery and the land never was Smith it was Hinds the Smith married into the family in the 1940s. I know this to be fact since my boyfriends grandmother was Ruby Hinds who was born in 1912 and grew up on that property. The caretaker was very helpful with also of information that we were unclear on. But unfortunately due to people trespassing and vandalizing the houses they had to be torn down as a safety precaution. If you do go visit we do ask that you please remember the people buried there do still having living relations who would appreciate it if you keep in mind to be respectful of our ancestors and do not remove or destroy anything else here!!!

Also I forgot to mention the cemetery is open during daylight hours only!!! If you get there an the gate is locked the caretaker has his cell phone number posted and is more than happy to come open it for you so there is no need to jump the fence. I would recommend parking by the old barn and walking down to cemetery since the creek tends to wash out the road often

I am from Salem Indiana! Born and raised, some of this is true and some is new stories to me!! But if anyone would like to chat about real experiences I’m open!! I lived about two miles away on down blue river road, we rode horses back there all the time. Most of what I’ve seen posted is not the local stories. There was a death there of a boy in school that is still unsolved to this day! I have a lot of information on this place that is correct, and would actually love to share! If you wanna go out there yourself: it’s located south of Salem out 135 then you take the road past the lake to the left follow that to the 4 way stop take a right it is about 3 miles out on the right across from blue river church. There is a new house erected there by a local doctor. With permission you may visit the cemetery. Or on Memorial Day the caretaker of the county cemetery’s will have it open to public! Have fun with the experience! The property lay out is amazing and very beautiful back there! The house that Katie lives in, just the ground level is still there but fallen in and needs demolished. The barn was tore down in the 90’s by a man farther down the road from our family he used to build his barn. “Crazy huh” but nevertheless it made a beautiful new barn! There is very old tombstones there marked early 1700’s amazing the things that can be hidden!

Katies Lane- salem/pekin Indiana... In the late 1940's there was a little girl Named katie Smith that lived on the farm that the graveyard is located. Katie wasnt a "normal" child. Katie told people that she had a friend named jake that she played with all the time, but when asked about jake she told her parents that they couldnt see him, only she could see him. Katie came up missing early one morning, she was found in the barn hanging from the rafter right above the front door. There was a note in her room that told her parents that Jake told her to do it. Katie Smith was then laid to rest at the graveyard on her farm.
There was a graduation party in 1976 at the Smith Farm where the barn and the graveyard is located. There where kids from the house all the way to the graveyard drinking and having a good time. There was a boy named Jake who was a sophomore at Salem High School that was at the party, Jake wondered away from his friends and into the graveyard. His friends Found Jake dead laying under the top half of a gravestone, No one knew what had happend to Jake, if it was a suicide or if it was a murder. The grave Jake was laying under was Katie Smiths. Why isnt this on the website? This is the wierdest story that ive ever heard and its all true, ive been to Katies Lane and its all there. the barn, the graveyard, even the rafter that she was hung from. Her gravestone is still there as soon as you get into the graveyards metal gate Take a hard left and its in the front row, it has a round top. Katies lane is located on Blue River Church Road in the middle of Pekin and Salem Indiana. Go out of salem on 135 south for approx 7 miles and take a left on Shorts Corner road accross from a gas station. go down Shorts Corner Rd approx 3 miles turn left on Blue River Church Road Go down blue river church road untill you get to Blue River Church on the right next to a graveyard. "this is not the smith graveyard" The driveway accross from the blue river churches driveway is the path you want to take, walk down the driveway untill you get to a gate, cross the gate and continue on the trail back to the barn, (DO NOT go LEFT AND GO TO THE HOUSE) keep going down that trail and it will take you to the graveyard surrounded by a stone wall. we always park at the church and walk back the driveway, i suggest you to do that.
