Hey everyone, I was browsing the stories on here and found info on Moody Road...and have heard numerous stories about it from friends, as well as other forums and sites. Well, we finally decided to go out there to check it out and maybe see if we could find an explanation. We went out there friday night, well after dark. Im sure maybe a few others have done this, and found the explanation of it. Anyways.....we found the tree, parked, looked north, and sure enough seen the light. It was orange, sometimes white, moved a bit, and also had some red to it at times. And at times yes it did disappear. If you drive north from "the spot" on Meridian, you will see that the light seems to remain far away as you approach.......and due to a few natural dips in the road, at times it will drop outta sight. When you hit the intersection of Meridian and Division and look north across the field, you will still see it...and it will appear very far away. Now as most probably know, Rt. 49 is directly in front of you when you sit at this spot.....on a clear night with the corn low, you can see many lights.....towers, houses, even the powerhouse in wheatfield. We then drove to the intersection of Rt. 49 and Rt. 14 (the T intersection where 49 ends). If you look north from THIS spot on 49, you will see the same light....and it is for sure the headlights and tailights of cars on 49...it is MUCH clearer at this spot. The light you see when your on Meridian is in fact headlights and tailights...from vehicles that are MILES away on Rt. 49. The cars approaching give the orange/whitish glow....and when a vehicle is heading north, the red tail lights mingle in with the white..giving the reddish effect. If anyone has the time.....Id encourage you to go out there and see this for yourself ! Park on Meridian, check out the light....and watch it for awhile to get a really good idea of what it looks like and how it behaves. Then, go to the intersection of 49 and 14.....and look north...you'll see the same thing, much clearer, and it will be obvious what the "light" is ! Also, check out a map......49 and Meridian line up perfectly with each other just about, and are about 2 or so miles apart
