Dan's Run - Daniel Guthrie was murdered and placed in a shallow grave near the corner of Pixley Knob Road and Cemetery Hill (Mountain Grove). Guthrie's body remained undetected for one year before being found, unearthed and reburied in nearby Mt. Zion Cemetery . The hole he was buried in is still open (about 4-feet deep) near the edge of the woods. Homes in the nearby area have experienced sightings of a young man with a large, handlebar bushy mustache, doors open and close by themselves, footsteps walking up and down hallways at night, footprints found outside bedroom windows, objects moving by themselves, and ghostly whispers. Also, a tape recorder left on Guthrie's gravestone in Mt. Zion later revealed a faint, haunting man's voice crying, "Help me, God help me, please help me..."
Mt. Zion cemetery - The green Lady - in the early 1900's a young woman was killed on Henryville blue lick road after a terrible car accident and buried in Mt. Zion cemetery on the same road. it is said that she roams the cemetery, with a green glow to her. she will jump on your car if its parked in the cemetery at night (said to be looking for a ride home) and the green goo will still be on your car until you wash it off.
Just went here tonight, and I'm still confused as to what happened there. We made the trip up there at dusk to make sure we could find both places, and it was no problem since as I suspected they were practically right next to each other. We got out of the car to walk around the cemetary and try to find Dan Guthrie's grave with no success. I also got out of the car at Dan's Run to try and find the shallow grave, but it was partially on private property. We headed back down the road to grab a bite to eat before going back, and my friend got a call from his nearby Aunt to stop by before we went.
After visiting for awhile with them, the subject of the cemetary and Daniel Guthrie came up. They told me that Dan Guthrie was just one victim in a string of murders in the Henryville area. They said he was not only buried once, but was also dug up again by his murderer and then burnt in a fire. They also confirmed that the creekbed beside the woods at the intersection I suspected Dan's Run to be at was correct. The only thing I found that didn't make sense from the description is the fact that people were seeing an old fashioned man with a handle bar mustache. Daniel Guthrie was murdered in the early 90's, and was a teenager. This made me much more anxious to investigate, and I was not disapointed.
Now night has fully fallen on the area, so we head back to the cemetary. We picked a bit of a crummy night to investigate as far as it being the day before Independence Day and people were already shooting off fireworks. I thought this might detour any paranormal activity, and it might have, but not completely. I took a handful of photos around the cemetary while we were there. After about 10 minutes my friend was getting anxious, asked for the flashlight and wanted to leave, and couldn't understand why. Finally he said "something is whispering to me." He told me at first he dismissed it as me talking, or possibly someone nearby playing a trick on him, which is why he asked for the flashlight to check around. Finally he realized it wasn't me or anyone else around he could see, and it whispered to him again something about "light" or "a light." I could tell he was pretty freaked out, so I said we could go. The photos didn't really show anything particularly interesting, nor did I see a green glowing lady around, but here are a couple pictures I took:
So as we drive back down the road, we hit the intersection and Dan's Run. I get out of the car, but my friend refused still being a bit freaked out. I start taking pictures from the road of the creek below, and after taking a couple pictures as I look into the flash of the next photo I see a transparent blue fog in the creek. I have never been more caught off guard in my life, I was frozen for a second and then just jumped back into the car and got out of there. Upon reviewing the picture, I don't see the blue fog, but just looking at it gives me chills. Here's the photo:
Was Daniel Guthrie trying to make his presense known to us? I don't know, but I am very anxious to go back and investigate more.
