I read your investigation report concerning the "Edna Collings" covered bridge tonight because today, I had a strange experience there. My husband and I were out taking pictures of the covered bridges in the Putnam county area today, 10/11/04. The Edna Collings bridge was our last one for today. We knew nothing about the bridge, we were just following a map we picked up at a gas station on hwy 40. I had just noticed when we stopped at the previous bridge, that our map gave a brief history of each bridge, so as we were driving to this one I read the description. Then we both started joking around about the bridge being haunted, yeah right! It was sometime in the late afternoon, maybe 2 or 3 pm when we got there. We stopped along the way to take a few pictures of the landscape. I took 3 pictures of the bridge from different angles on the side we approched from, then I took a picture of the sign, just inside the bridge that talks about it being haunted, then another picture through the bridge and out the other end. All these pictures came out perfectly clear on my digital camera. Then I walked through the bridge to the other side and took 3 more pictures, however even though I had everything in focus, each time I pushed the button to take the shot, the picture got blurry and stayed that way even after I took the shot until I either turned the camera off, then on or pointed it to the ground and back toward the bridge. The first time it happened I thought, "this is weird, my camera has never done this before" so I kept trying. I told my husband who was on the same side of the bridge with me and he said, "let me try". When he took a picture he opened the LCD and we could both see, that the shot was CLEAR. So of course he started teasing me. So, I tried once again to take a picture and this time the blurring was even worse. Then he said take a picture of me and Dakota (our huskie). So, twice I aimed the camera directly at the same location as before and took 2 lovely sharp pictures of my husband and our dog in front of the bridge, no blurring. We all walked back through the bridge to the side we had started from and once again I took a blurred shot of the front of the bridge, "head on-center" shot. So, I moved to my left side to try a picture off side, and I took two sharp pictures of the bridge. I tried one last time for that centered head on shot and guess what - this one was so blurred it looked like there was a double image of the bridge. I know this probably sounds crazy but I swear its true. I've been going back and forth from this note to my pictures so I'd get all the information right as it happened. I took all these pitures because I couldn't believe what was happening and as we were on our way home I told my husband that the pictures would probable be fine when we viewed them on our computer at home. But, they weren't, they look just as they did when I took the shot. I'm not sure what to think of the experience. I tried to find some history on the bridge when I got home and that's how I found your site. I saw other sites with beautiful sharp pictures of this same bridge from the same angle that I tried and I found no stories even close to what happened to me today. So, I thought I'd let you know what happened to me today, IT'S ALL TRUE whether you believe it or not.
