Hello. I just joined the forum yesterday but have been visiting the site for about 2 years now. I had some questions about the bridge at Podunk. I have never been myself and until i read one of the threads on here had never had any dirctions there myself.
Now for the questions: *Was wondering what kind of things happen there.
*I have heard a couple of things that say NEVER go there because it is just to dangerous. So i guess my question would be if anyone knows a little bit more background as to what makes this such a dangerous place to visit and why.
*And lastly, does anyone have any experiences that they could share that would be beneficial for me and my group going there?
Thanks for the help.

Here is the dirt on Podunk. PodunkI have one location pinpointed on Google Earth per the directions in the url above. It's on my to-do list to get it posted on our own forum. If you have Google Earth the coordinates are 39°28'27.62"N 86°16'49.76"W (Highlight coordinates, right click, More Search Types..., Google Earth) if not try here TerraServer Map Better yet, Yahoo map

I too followed the directions and came up with the site you posted, but I also read a post in here about another Podunk. It is at 39°29'46.46"N 86° 5'52.02"W. It looks like this: . I went to the latter location and it sure felt like a place that would harbor some ill will. it just gives you the creeps.Apparently a lot of other people think there is something to this place because it is very overtly marked "no trespassing" and the house is gated off. I don't know if this is the "false Podunk" mentioned on "release me" seeing as how there is an actual Podunk road near the site you listed. I have been wrestling with this forever using directions like "there is a tree....there was a squirrel by the side of the road..."

Oh yeah...the story. Podunk is an old town deserted because of the plague. The father of the family that lived in the house went mad from the plague and killed his family with an axe, threw them in the fireplace and then hung himself. There's a bridge that if you drive on to, stop and turn your headlights and radio off and don't talk then you can see a baby crawl across the road. You can also hear it crying or laughing sometimes. It is supposedly the center of 5 points of power in Indiana. On the post at the beginning of the lane to the house it is posted “Do not trespass” The house is gated from the lane right up to the house. The whole thing is very much out in the wide open. This is the one I visited.

I forgot to mention, if you visit the one that Barrett listed, it is not only the undead you have to watch out for. I hear the locals will roll out the welcome war wagon for you.

It was the "real" Podunk the Release Me site strongly discouraged visiting. So much they stopped short of actually saying where it is. Even if I could pinpoint it Im not sure I would share the information given the danger of sending people to get shot. However: if you are still curious do as the site says. Use the "measure" tool and start at the bridge (on my location), measure exactly 20 miles south and see where you end up. Look at the road just West of where you end up. Another road with Cemetery in the name. Interesting. More interesting is if you follow that road a little to the south you'll see a path coming off it (I hesitate to call it a road because GE doesn't recognise it) and that path goes and forks all over those woods.

I have been to Podunk many of times its hard to get in. There has been nothing going on there every time that we go its just a creepy old place that people say is haunted. Too many like to say places are haunted before they really see what is causing problems. Overall cool place to see but nothing.

It's hard to be positive which is the "real" Podunk.
"Podunk is a place of great mystery in Indiana. There are many misconceptions on where exactly it is located, and what exactly one might find there. Many teenagers go to the wrong place, a rural areas southwest of Bargersville. Although very seculded in the woods, the place they go isn't really THE Podunk, this is just land owned by people who are very aggrivated when children come out to Brians Cemetary, or an old run down abbonded house. The real Podunk lies roughly 20 miles south of this place." -Release Me
Am I the only one that can kinda interpret that statement a couple of ways? But I'm guessing that the "fake" Podunk is this Brians Cemetery and the old abandoned house near it?
