yeah no prob, i know how it is and all.. I even had a friend that was raped and I know what she has gone through, and I hurt for her.. What she deals with, how she feels, thats bad enough to know, I couldn't imagine it happenin..

Well, I grew up in Highland graduated in 92. Been to reeder road a bunch of times. cutting lumber with my dad, cousins use to deer hunt over there as well. It has been about 10 years since I lived in Highland, but I remember that road was private property..
I ve been there a few times on Holloween night around midnight. I NEVER seen or heard anything.
I went to school with a guy who's mom either was related or good friends with the people that owned that property. So I asked here about all the folkloar.. She told me that the people who owned the property said it was not true.... so there is my take on it.

That property is owned by an ex local police officer, now DEA agent. I delivered pizzas there for 2 years while in college and road my mountain bike down the abandoned rroad numerous times. THere's nothing there but a dirty industrail complex

i will tell you this reeder rd is spooky when i was in school i had a friend who was into all that satanic nuts and we went there one nite with another buddy of mine now my satanic buddy is a big guy not fat but tall and creepy looking when we went he did some nuts cut his hand sad some spell or what did the star thing on the ground then we left the next nite we went back the same 3 of us we walked to where he did his spell somebody crossed out his star so he wanted to walk down some more then out of nowhere this big black thing like a shadow crossed in front of us in scared the nuts out of him he did not say a word but ran as fast as he could my other friend asked what was going on i told him what we saw then he never done the satanic crap after that

well jus made an accound on here cuz wanned to comment, 1st time bein on reader road was mayb a yr ago, was pretty scary, but nothing rlly happend, my friend, or friends n i go down reader road queit a bit on our bikes like at mid night, so wen ever go go for a bike ride, thats where we go. we never really see anything, somethimes we thing we see things, but its jus proly in our heads, the only scary thing that still freaked me out was me n a buddy were riding down it, went thru oak ridge prarie, took the long exit out, and about 100 yards from the exit, we see bright lights behind us, sum big truck coming at us, around 1 am, wen the park is closed, we road fast as possible to get away n just made it out in time, we are thinking it was the rail road police or something, but it was deff the scariest thing we have seen dealing with reader road, just 2day about 20 mins ago we went for another bike ride, in the snow down reader road, and only saw animal tracks, but was strange because they were almost in a perfect line, and went thru oak ridge prarie and up the hill, but just sum animal, so over all, go thru the trail, its over grown, so take a bike, people have cleared the 2 big fallen trees back there so its a nice fun ride back there now, but dnt 4 get ur flash light if u wana ride fast. =)

hey I just moved to Reder rd from Burnham Il. The area is much nicer than where I used to live. I was walking my dogs down the old reder rd for t he last couple of months unaware of the stories that revolve around the area. When someone told me I looked it up. The road is not a road anymore, it is more of a trail into a forest preserve. It is very overgrown this time of year but I walk down it every day almost with my two dogs. I haven't seen any ghosts  but I am looking forward to this year's halloween. I would like to have a halloween party here! Anyway, the actual trail head from the road starts off with abandoned rail road tracks and a gate. The trail dead ends in the woods at some rail road tracks. Then it picks up again as far as i could see from a map on google. I heard that the mafia used to dump bodies in the swamps here and they were finding bodies into the 1990's. I haven't heard about a girl drowning. I also heard a story about a church that used to be on this road that was burned down while people were locked inside of it. I don't know if any of it is true but if anyone has any more actual research they have found about it Id love to know. I would like to get to the bottom of some of this while I live right in it! |
