I must have missed a memo or something. Do ghosts have a union that says they may only communicate through evp's or electro-magnetic-static-cling-free-sheets or something? Who says these gadgets work or are the definitive means of capturing paranormal activity? Remember when orbs meant something? All I know is that I have had a spirit around me most of my life. He appears, he makes noise he plays tricks. My family has seen him, my friends have seen him and I may even know the source of why it seems to follow me. When I read about the Peru area and especially an item about a young girl named Stephanie, a few things started making sense to me. You can come here and wave a wand around me and bring your "Acme2000 official ghost recorder" if you want, but until Santa shows up at my door and tells me they work, I will doubt their capacity to bunk or debunk. Happy Hunting yall, and Happy Halloween!

What does everyone think about "Ghost Hunters" on the Sci-fi channel? Does it seem to you that they used to find nothing but now they rarely go an episode without getting activity? In the last episode they went to the house where the Manson murders took place and this dude had this new gadget. You ask a ghost a question and it blinks once for no and twice for yes and it worked suspiciously well. They also got some bone chilling evp's of Sharon Tate. In my opinion, the Ghost Hunters and especially that "dude" have found a way to cheat the electronic gadgets. Some way, possibly, to insert evp's on to a recorder. As for mediums, well, the book is still out on them. Every time I begin to think they are bogus they do something that fortifies their craft. Just for the record, I am a firm believer but a hardcore skeptic when it comes to ghosts and apparitions, etc...

I think orbs started to lose their credibility after so many people started claiming to capture them, when in actuality it was just dust. Much of the Force's investigations come to mind when I think of this type of thing, no offense to those guys if they happen to run across this. I still think some orb pictures are credible, I've gotten a couple that I highly doubt could've ever been created by dust or moisture. As for EVPs and EMF readings I still think they are a credible source of evidence of paranormal activity. In my opinion why they seemed to be so over used recently is because, like I mentioned before, digital photos and video seem to be used recklessly by many, but not all amateurs that they've lost their credibility.
I've seen the show a couple times, I have a hard time believing a lot of these cable broad casted ghost hunting shows to be credible. It seems that getting TV ratings and providing an entertaining program would overtake bringing viewers a credible investigation with less substantial and exciting evidence. The device you describe does sound far fetched, I would probably discredit it as TV magic nonsense. I've never been much of a fan of mediums, Ouija boards, ect. I have a hard time believing their results to be accurate as well.

I love the Ghost Hunters, don't get me wrong, but yeah....that last episode had me wondering.
I love the way they go about debunking...I really do. And that is what made me watch them in the first place. They didn't always call ghost on an orb or cold spot and they didn't have some british guy convulsing on the floor claiming to be satan.
But in the past season I've been really wondering. Jason and Grant are really great guys, and if I recall they refused to do the "Believe it or not" museum because they were asked that if they didn't find anything if they could fake something so everyone would continue to believe the place was haunted.
They have had a few cases where they found something but didn't say for sure that they thought the place to be haunted.
I'm still going to love that show no matter what. I still believe them to be credible.
I totally agree with Storm on this one. I generally take orbs with a grain of salt. They are too easily explained. Some video is acceptable. I have seen some pretty good stuff that couldn't have been faked and I have seen some stuff that had to of been faked. I normally go with EVP now. Ghost voices are the coolest thing to me to catch anyway.

Is Ghost Hunters the T.A.P.S guys, or am I thinking of a different show? I used to watch a lot of the ghost hunting shows on Fox Family back in the day, even the ones that were obviously staged where a family had to spend a whole night somewhere and do some kind of ritual to banish the spirits. They had a cool show called Scariest Places on Earth too, which I liked a lot better, and it was basically just their camera crew going out to locations with local amateurs and documenting their investigation. I remember they did Waverly Hills and this place somewhere in New Jersey called The Vortex that looked really interesting. All I can find on it now is a place in New Jersey that may or may not be the same location, but has more to do with aliens and some strange guy with a weird name claiming to be an alien prophet or something. Actually worth a read if you can find the interview with the guy, can't remember where I found it. Wow, kinda went off topic with that one.... Anyway, I found this site before that gave a very technical explanation for your typical orb captured on digital picture or video. Can't remember what it was called (I really should make better use of my web browser's bookmark function ), but I believe it was based in Indianapolis. I'm working on saving up some money to buy a good digital voice recorder, so then I can try to capture some of my own EVPs. An EMF reader would be pretty handy to have as well.

I love the Ghost Hunters too, and I should point out...it wasn't one of their team that had the "After-life Quiz Master 2000" it was someone out in California when they visited the scene of the Manson murders. That gadget showed a ghost answering about 6 or 8 striaght questions and the EVP's were maybe a little too good. I too liked the honesty and integrity these guys showed and I hope they are not pushing things for the sake of ratings. EVP's creep me out worse than footage but I still adhere to the old fashoined way. Hear it, see it, feel it, smeel it. The old 6 senses. I've seen ghosts, I believe 100% that they exist but I believe about .05% of ghost stories, pictures, video, etc.

Yeah I've seen and heard more things without the aid of any electronic devices, I've very rarely captured anything I believe to be credible evidence on camera. I sure do wish I had some of the stuff I've seen with my own eyes on camera, namely that girl in Evansville and all the stuff that's happened to me at Dan's Run.

I find more when I just tune everything out and just use my senses then I ever have using a camera and recorder. This is also another reason why I like to go in small groups. The less noise and less distractions there are the more that can be seen and heard.
I would like one of those thermal image cameras though. That'd be fun at dogface.

Indeed, I plan on making the trek up there myself one of these days. Heh, it seems that at the rate I'm expanding out of this area I'll make it up there eventually. I might try to go up to Bobtown sometime tomorrow. '

You have GOT to fill me in on Bobtown. Don't know why I think this place is creepy...never been there. I think some of the story has been embellished for the sake of the haunted house they throw each year but the core of the legend goes back a hundred years but read for yourself: www.thecoffins.info/3.html

Yeah I've read the legend on that site before. I also read something about how there was a police officer who was murdered and placed in a hollow tree trunk out there by a few teenagers. I'll be sure to post my findings and pictures here as always. If I decide to go up there tonight I might check out the haunted Papa Johns in nearby Seymour, pizza is sounding pretty good right now. ;D
