Way back in 1978 I was a contractor on Guam Island burying phone cable and the scariest most unsettling place I have ever been to is the South Pacific War memorial which is a shrine dedicated to the 800 Japanese soldiers who died there rather than surrender to the US forces. There is a spire and Shinto and Buddhist shrines there along with plaques in English and Japanese describing what took place at this location. The place has a bad karma to it that is difficult to describe. I went out there a second time right before a typhoon hit the island the the wind racing thru the spire made an eerie sound. I would not mind going back to Guam someday but I will not revisit that place.
