I fail to see the big deal with Reader Rd. I had a friend who lived on the street in high school. I delivered pizzas out there for a few years after high school. Never saw or heard a thing. As for it not being a good area? Theres nothing wrong with it. No crime. It's mostly an industrial park, next to the Griffith dump. I've been on Reader Rd hundreds of times, same with alot of my friends and we have never seen anything.

All the investigations about that road that I've read have actually said it's commonly misspelled, since all the lists on the internet are typically just copied from Shadowlands, but that it's actualy Reder Rd. Also you can't drive the entire distance of the road, you come to a dead end with a gate, and you have to walk the rest of the way.

Then you would know it is Reder Road, not Reader Road.

Yeah...I've only been out there a few times....I always spelled it Reader Road (Now I know and knowing is half the battle.) But it's hard to get a clear spelling of the road. Everyone has their own take on it (I do believe in the Haunted Indiana books it's spelled Reader...but I'm not sure on that. It's been a while since I've read them.)
The first time I was out there we heard things in the woods (like the crunching of leaves and what not).
We were not there for very long. It was about 3 in the morning and we didn't want to get into any trouble for being out there (We stayed for maybe 10-15 minutes).
I know the area isn't that bad...but it's not good either.
I probably won't go again for a while. The last couple of times it was kind of dull. Maybe we'll try it again soon....but there's much more exciting places then this one around here.

Sorry zeros, that was for smallz. It IS misspelled reader on most of the lists, the lists are simply copy n paste jobs from the last list. When I redid my list I chortled and guffawed at the number of typos that people would just copy n paste over. And the improper usage of "their", "there" and "they're"? OY...don't get me started! There is no Reader Road on any map of NW Indiana.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised a site like Shadowlands wouldn't go through and edit some of that stuff.

Yeah I should've known how to spell it. I drive it to and from work every day. As I was reading the posts I thought it looked funny spelled that way. Monkey see monkey do I guess.

My apologies, smallz. It has been somewhat of a crusade of mine to define the sites of Indiana and to pinpoint the sites and map each and every location. For instance, under La Porte, there is a Hangman's Road/ Orelake listing. First of all, Hangman's Road is what somebody that lives near there might call it, not anybody else and it was Orr Lake not Orelake. Second of all, I had to deal with directions like "Go to where we saw a squirrel and turn left at the tree that is no longer there and past the house where they gave out snickerz for Halloween four years ago". Enough to drive a ghost genious and a spelling wissard nuts!

I'd like to hit that snickers bar house up though. "Hello, I'm from the internet, and I heard you have snickers."

Well there is a "Reeder Road" in Crown Point, but it's not haunted to my knowledge.. && you can drive all up down and around that.. but Reder Road (that isn't broken off into the path) doesn't really go anywhere.. but houses.. and the path is not drivable.. especially everyday to and from work.. so why exactly would you have to drive the road "everyday" enless you lived out there.. in which case I highly doubt you would be misspelling the road name....

I've never been to Reder Rd myself, and probably never will, but I'm bored looking on Google Maps and I noticed they have the road dead ending into what looks like maybe a farm. I'm guessing the "haunted" part of Reder Rd is the portion that branches off to the left before you get to the dead end and eventually takes you to some railroad tracks. You sure it really wasn't once part of W 58th Ave? Just kinda curious whether or not I'm looking at the right thing.

No, actually it does go into som farms, (i know this from personal experiance) there's a couple of houses out there, and a "hayride" and a park to the left.

Well then I fail to see what's so spooky about that road. Maybe you've misinterpreted my words. I'm talking about this: Starts here Ends here As opposed to this:

Indeed. That looks correct. The road is much overgrown though, the first half of it is the "creepy" part but the second half is just as much "Redar Road" as the first. It doesn't end at the train track. But I'm somewhat confused, is the last picture the second half of the road or.. is it going straight instead of curving (like on the first pic)?
